Education: B.A. in History from Stanford University (California) and MBA with honors from Columbia Graduate School of Business (New York).
Professional career: John de Zulueta is Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Universidad Europea (Laureate Group) and of the Healthcare Committee of the Círculo de Empresarios (Business Circle) and was Chairman of the Sanitas Group (BUPA) from 2005 to 2009 and USP Hospitales from 2010 to 2012. He is also a Board Director of Bankinter since 2001, a member of the Board of the Instituto de Consejeros-Administradores ( Directors and Administrators Institute), Vice-chairman of the Bankinter Innovation Foundation and Chairman of the Exit Foundation (Spain). He also has served on the Advisory Board of 3i Europe. Highlights of his profesional career include his years as a consultant with The Boston Consulting Group in San Francisco, California, and his 14 years as CEO of the Sanitas Group and his involvement with APD (Association for Management Progress). He has also been a member of the Special Commission to Study the Development of the Information Society in Spain sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology. His career and contribution to society have been recognized by H.M. the King of Spain in awarding him the Grand Cross of the Order of Civil Merit.
